"Riverwalk"

Karen Phipps and I arrived at Cedarburg just in time to get our canvases stamped before they closed for the morning. We immediately headed to the Cover Bridge Park to find a beautiful shady place to paint. I think we both prefer cityscapes but the heat and humidity was near 100 degrees so we decided to wait until later to paint their main street. Once I got here I knew I had to tackle my nemesis, thick greens. The bit of blue on the muddy river was reflected from the sky and gave me a mental relief from the heat. This is mostly palette knife as the canvas is larger than what I have been painting. The larger canvas gave me elbow room to use a palette knife.

Hi Susan, this painting is lovely. I found your blog on Karen's blog. I especially like the composition of this painting. It gives the feeling of being there on a picnic.

This painting is magical. I think my favorite parts are the amazing sense of distance, and how you left parts of the bridge less defined, and those leaves over on the left. They pop! love they're contrast to the greenery behind them.

It's not easy showing masses of greens the way you did, Susan. What a great job! I think I need to study this painting to learn from it. Magical painting indeed!

Hello Joan, Kathleen, Karen, and Janelle,
I think it's very interesting that we're all fairly representational and yet paint/think abstractly to achieve these more real-ish results. I gotta think on that some more. I think it's key. Thank you all for taking the time to leave me comments. I love hearing from you.

Hi Susan; thanks for visiting my blog & for your kind remarks - you made my day! You've got some lovelllllly landscapes going on here (love the palette knife work, too- great to see another knife painter!!).
Cheers,Roxanne

Good job with the cool relief of the water reflections. The whole painting is very comforting. And with just enough detail.
It was "only" in the 90's in TX last week. Makes shade a priority, huh?

Hi Roxanne, I'm going to try to get more expressive with my palette knifes. I love your results. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Jill,
hope your receive this. I have trouble seeing your blog. It stays up on my screen for just a few seconds and then a warning notice pops up. So unfortunatley I'm only getting flashes of you art. Do you think it's on my end?

Sun and heat, really weigh me down but I'm not complaining. All to soon we'll be minus 10 degrees.

Susan, Thanks for letting me know about the technical difficulty with my blog. I would be interested to know how long the problem lasts and what the notice says that pops up.
It pulls up on my daughter's computer in Houston.
I thought blog activity was slow this week. Just figured everyone was busy with summer fun.
Once I did have that problem on my own computer - I somehow managed to block my own blog.

Also THANKS again for including me on your blog list ~ what an honor!
