"Lotties"

I'm going on another trip back east so this will be my last post until I return home.

Lottie's is a neighborhood bar in Bucktown. Cityscapes create so many questions. It seems to me the longer I study painting the more questions I discover.

Hi Susan! You are sure right about more painting means more questions.. they multiply like bunnies. I wonder what are your questions about cityscapes? How do you feel they differ from regular landscapes? Do you approach them differently? Enjoy your next painting trip. Can't wait to see what you produce next.
PS Lovely cityscape here. The close values remind me of Bonnard.

Hi Loriann,
I love your comment, "they multiply like bunnies" so true. I guess I wonder why sometimes my cityscapes seem too become like a cartoon, stiff, too loosey-goosey, falls flat etc. I'm sure it has to do with edges and value but????

For me the interesting thing about cityscapes like this is the question, "I wonder what's around the corner?"
I love the colors in the wall and sidewalk.

Enjoy your trip!

Bon voyage!
I feel the same way--the more I paint, the less I know.

Love your cityscape!
I totally agree with Susan's comments.
You, however, seem to have no trouble at all with them!!

Hope you're enjoying your vacation.

Hi Deborah, I love your thoughts regarding, "I wonder what's around the corner." How provocative and what an excellent working theme.
