"Shore View"

I painted this around 9am. My point was to give a good peek of the shore. Plus the dunes and the water are my two favorite beach elements.
All my paintings done while traveling are small, 5x7 to 6x8. I'd like to work larger but I don't have the strength to carry more than a small backpack of gear. Sometimes I see something that I think I'd rather tackle larger but the hassel of carrying a large canvas just hasn't been worth it. Oh well, isn't there a saying, "good things come in small packages."

You have some very wonderful works on your blog. Nice paint applications.
I am with you on doing small when traveling.
God bless and happy painting.

You're doing exactly what I'm trying to do- get at the huge sense of distance. I love the textural contrasts between what's near and what's far. It really works. I love the horizon line in this one too.

I agree, some of my best paintings are small. Small but mighty - or so I'd like to believe.

Your knife work in this painting and your last one is great! You've got lots of interesting texture around your focal point. It's beautiful!

Hi Gary, Thanks so much for stopping by. I enjoyed visiting your blog too and must say I envy your fantastic location to plein air paint. You must jump out of bed every morning ready to go. Hope you visit my blog again. S

Hi Karen, I feel so fortunate to have a paint buddy who doesn't mind sharing questions and ideas. We're both on the fanstastic journey of discovery. I glad you don't mind me looking over your shoulder and flattered that you look over mine. Happy Painting my friend.

Once again a great use of thick/thin paint to establish a center of interest. I just lover to linger over the dune grasses to sky distance. Nice.
