Did a second study in Humboldt Park about greenery. Painting only with a rag kept me focused on big shapes and value which I feel helped reduce the mindless dabbing strokes.

You painted this with rags? That makes it all the more pleasant to look at. I'm a big fan of landscape paintings, photos, drawings etc and this is definitely a very good one. At some places [just above the bridge] the tree seems to blend into the background a bit but other than that a very good painting.
I will definitely be back to check out your new paintings as much as I can and thank you for the encouragement on my book.
