Inspired by the "Huntington Hottie."
This morning I painted a street scene with a few other plein air painters. I'm really loving this skinning format. I think it's because it gives me just a slice, a suggestion, of what's going on.
One of my aims with today study was to get a feeling of the compact, dense, weight and form of this granny smith apple as well as express the simple and perfect beauty found in nature.
Due to a storm, we've been without electricity, thus the reason I wasn't able to post anything yesterday. Thankfully I have a nice window in my studio to light my subject but I needed a book light on my canvas because of the dark rainy sky. My study focused on painting white things, quite a challenge.
I've been working on capturing people where they live and work. She looked very happy working in her garden and was completely unaware that I was painting her.
These flowers looked so beautiful that I had to try and paint them. Someone artfully left them to float in a birdbath creating a calming atmosphere that separated their garden from the chaos of city dwelling. 
The humid weather created an interesting mist off the lake early in the morning. I quickly tried to capture the effect.
Red Tulips are probably my favorite flowers. This time of year they are getting difficult to find. This piece was created with a palette knife.
This woman caught my eye because her gray hair was almost to her knees. As I was painting her it became apparent that here is a woman comfortable with herself.
